About HoNea Bee Farm

How We Started

It Started with a Father’s Love

In 2019, Alexis “Alex” Dela Cuesta, a CPA by profession, started a humble experiment with just two bee colonies on the rooftop of his home in San Andres Bukid, Manila.

It wasn’t just about honey. It was about building a sustainable future for his growing family. In fact, the name “HoNea” is a tribute to his daughter, Nea Deborah.

What began as a backyard hobby quickly revealed a truth: to produce the best honey, bees need the best nature. Driven by this realization, the family took a leap of faith and migrated to Davao City to build a permanent sanctuary.

When they arrived in Catigan, Toril, Davao City, it felt as if the land had been prepared for them in advance. Waiting for them at the foothills of Mt. Apo were majestic Narra trees, already in full bloom. Since Narra nectar is known to produce some of the finest, most premium honey in the world, they knew immediately—they had found their home.

Today, that small rooftop experiment has grown into a thriving ecosystem where education, tourism, and agriculture meet.
